Many colleges and schools host welcome events for new students, with some taking place prior to the university-wide Gone to Texas event on Sunday, August 20. Information on these college and school events can be found below. Students will receive more information about these events directly from their college or school.

On Sunday, August 20, President Jay Hartzell will officially welcome you to the Longhorn community with a unique celebration, Gone to Texas 2023. This event kicks off new students' journey on the Forty Acres with a short program hosted by President Hartzell on the Main Mall in front of the Tower, followed by a celebration on the South Mall.

Gone to School of Architecture

Kick-off and celebrate the Fall 2023 term at the School of Architecture's welcome and welcome back event, Gone to SOA! All students, faculty, and staff are invited to the all-SOA welcome address from new Dean Heather Woofter and program leadership.
Following the welcome, there will be food, refreshments a tabling fair showcasing school resources and student organizations. Dean Heather Woofter and members of the SOA administration will be present to greet and mingle with students, faculty, and staff as we usher in a new academic year.

Join the McCombs School of Business for Gone to Business! Gone to Business is your official welcome to the McCombs School of Business.
